    I ran the installation of CompendiumNG 2.1.4 on Windows 7, and it completed without any obvious errors. However, when I run the program (via the Start Menu shortcut “Start CompendiumNG”), I get an error message which says:

    Windows cannot find ‘javaw’. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.

    I don’t know how to proceed. I have Java installed. I couldn’t find any other posts on this forum mentioning a similar error or its solution. Any tips?

    P.S. An observation/suggestion to improve the installation on Windows: Currently, two shortcuts are created in the Start Menu:
    * CompendiumNG Uninstaller
    * Start CompendiumNG

    I (like presumably many Windows users) frequently launch programs by pressing the Start button, typing the name of the program (or the beginning thereof), and typing enter. Because of the way these shortcuts are named, this technique doesn’t work; it would launch the uninstaller. Therefore it would be more helpful if the shortcuts were named:
    * Uninstall CompendiumNG
    * CompendiumNG

    Regarding the starter CNG cannot find java, please look at the FAQ where this problem is described: https://compendiumng.org/faq/

    Regarding the suggestion to rename the files, this is a good idea and we will add it to our to-do list.
